Prayer

Prayer is absolutely at the heart of everything we do. It is the heartbeat of our community and ministry together. 

At it’s simplest, God wants a loving relationship with each and every one of us in which we trust and spend time with Him and to think about his will for our lives, and then make decisions with this in mind. He’s not a dictator, he’s a loving Father who wants to walk with us in all we face and sometimes, as that loving Father, He may offer guidance and wisdom to help us.

It’s a two way relationship and we need to be open to Him communicating to us also. At the very least it’s always good to give thanks for all the blessings we are given and prayer gives us an opportunity to do just that.

If prayer is difficult for you, you’re not alone. In the bible many of the psalms are prayers and they range from people thanking God to people yelling at God. Jesus was himself asked how to pray and he gave his disciples the following:

Our Father who art in heaven

Hallowed be thy name

Thy kingdom come

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread. 
And forgive us our trespasses, 
as we forgive those
who trespass against us. 

And lead us not into temptation, 
but deliver us from evil. 

For thine is the kingdom, 
and the power, and the glory, 
for ever and ever. Amen.

My personal prayer for you if you’re reading this comes from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians

‘I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.’
